More of My Favourite (Underrated) Booktubers

Watching booktube is pretty different from reading traditional book blogs. I love watching booktuber’s videos when I can’t read a blog, like when I’m eating breakfast or getting ready in the morning. A few months ago I made a list of some of my favourite booktubers — here are a few more of my new, underrated favourites!

Kitty G

Kitty is a UK-based booktuber with a love of all things SFF. Unlike a lot of booktubers, she regularly posts full reviews and even her list-y posts discuss various books in-depth. As someone who appreciates the art of a great review, I love that!

What Cass Read

If I had to pick a reading twin from among my favourite booktubers, Cass would be it! She’s a big SFF fan, and she appreciates a good urban fantasy and paranormal romance. Her undying love for fantasy mega-author Robin Hobb is what finally convinced me to pick up her books because she’s never led me astray!

Connor O’Brien

Connor is one of the more eclectic readers on this list, gravitating to everything from literary fiction to SFF to more YA. My favourite style of video he make is his bookish wrap ups, where he does a brief recap of all the books he’s read lately. It’s the perfect way to get more info about a book — and a bite-sized review!

Claire Rousseau

Claire is a French booktuber (but her videos are in English!) who reads and reviews a lot of SFF and queer YA, both of which y’all know I’m here for. She’s also really into films and fandom, and fanfic. Nothing better than a super solid fic recommendation!

Kalanadi

Rachel, who goes by Kalanadi on YT, is another SFF lover who dabbles in comics and the mystery genre too. I haven’t been watching her videos as long as the others on this list, but Rachel’s videos have already introduced me to a lot of “old-school” books. I’ve got a whole TBR list of books recommended by Rachel!

And those are some more of my favourite underrated BookTubers! All of them discuss SFF at least some of the time, but they’ve also introduced me to other books I never would’ve heard of otherwise…and it’s very cool to see their personalities come through! Weirdly enough, I’ve barely been able to find any booktubers who often read adult romance. What’s up with that?

Do you watch BookTube? What types of bookish videos are your favourite to watch? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I don’t Booktube nearly enough, but I will definitely be checking all of these fine Booktubers out! Nice to see a Robin Hobb fan on the list, and the old school books too, as thoe can be tough. Thanks for sharing Danya!

    1. There are all sorts of SFF readers on booktube, but tracking them down can be a bit tricky. I was so pleased when I found a Robin Hobb Fan! No problem, Greg. I hope you find some new booktube favourites! 🙂

  2. I’m bookmarking this post, girl. I mostly don’t care for the popular booktubers, but I’m always looking for more interesting ones. And since you gave your approval to these booktubers, I’m sold!

    1. Hooray, so glad you found this post helpful! I’m not that into the popular ones either because our reading tastes don’t really align. I think there are a few on this list that you’d really like, especially Kitty and Claire!

  3. These are great recommendations! I don’t watch Booktubers as a rule, although I do catch some occasionally. I wish I felt comfortable enough in front of the camera to do this😊

  4. I do not watch booktube, but that’s a good idea to use it for times when your hands are busy or something so you can’t read regular blogs. And since all the ones you mentioned are SFF lovers, I may have to check them out!

    1. Hooray, I hope you find a few of these booktubers to your taste Kristen! I’ve recently become a big fan of booktube and love watching videos, but I don’t think I could ever make a booktube channel myself. 🙈

  5. Ooh, great list! I haven’t gotten into booktube at all yet, but I’ll use this as a starting point! I watch a lot of video game reviews on YT so it’ll be an easy transition. 🙂

    1. Thank you! I never used to be into booktube but lately I’ve been loving it. The key is finding channels that suit your style, much the same as video game reviewers. I hope you enjoy some of these booktubers!

  6. Booktube is not something I’m into but I will check out all of these channels and see if one of them will convince me. I’m fussy with who I watch though when it comes to any youtube channel and sometimes I’ll be watching all the videos and other times I will watching nothing for 6 months and feel lost when I go back to channels I used to watch religiously. When it comes to books I kind of like reading thoughts, much like my audio book struggles, I tune out when people are talking, that’s terrible isn’t it? I am persevering with audiobooks so I am gonna try and so the same with booktube just because it should be my kind of thing in theory.

    1. I’m pretty fussy with YT channels too honestly, which is why I think it took me so long to be “convinced” by booktube in general. But I’ve found that there are some really cool people creating booktube content who read similar genres to me, so that’s a must. If you’re tuning out though it could be tricky…report back and let me know how your booktube-watching experiment goes, Becky!
