Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. The weekly event is meant to showcase eagerly anticipated upcoming releases…and to spread the word! This week I’m excited about:
Tower of Thorns by Juliet Marillier (Blackthorn & Grim #2)
Genre: F
Publisher: Roc
Anticipated Publication Date: Noember 3, 2015
Disillusioned healer Blackthorn and her companion, Grim, have settled in Dalriada to wait out the seven years of Blackthorn’s bond to her fey mentor, hoping to avoid any dire challenges. But trouble has a way of seeking out Blackthorn and Grim.
Lady Geiléis, a noblewoman from the northern border, has asked for the prince of Dalriada’s help in expelling a howling creature from an old tower on her land—one surrounded by an impenetrable hedge of thorns. Casting a blight over the entire district, and impossible to drive out by ordinary means, it threatens both the safety and the sanity of all who live nearby. With no ready solutions to offer, the prince consults Blackthorn and Grim.
As Blackthorn and Grim begin to put the pieces of this puzzle together, it’s apparent that a powerful adversary is working behind the scenes. Their quest is about to become a life and death struggle—a conflict in which even the closest of friends can find themselves on opposite sides.
Of course I’m chomping at the bit for TOWER OF THORNS! I mean, it’s the sequel to one of my favourite books of 2014. The amazing characters, beautiful writing, and fairy tale quality made it impossible to put down. All of my friends are probably sick of me talking about how amazing that book was, honestly. So when I saw that the sequel had a title, a cover, and a synopsis, I admit to a certain amount of fangirlish glee. And what a cover! Roc has been very kind to Juliet Marillier.
If you haven’t read Dreamer’s Pool yet, be sure to do so before Tower of Thorns comes out. I’m positive that it’s going to be EPIC. It’s hands down one of my most anticipated reads for 2015…I’m just sad that it won’t be out until so late in the year! Waiting with bated breath.
