Waiting on Wednesday: Vol. 30

Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. The weekly event is meant to showcase eagerly anticipated upcoming releases…and to spread the word! This week I’m excited about:

End of DaysEnd of Days by Susan Ee (Penryn & the End of Days #3)

Genre: DYSTOPIAN, YA

Publisher: Skyscape

Anticipated Publication Date: May 12, 2015

End of Days is the explosive conclusion to Susan Ee’s bestselling Penryn & the End of Days trilogy.

After a daring escape from the angels, Penryn and Raffe are on the run. They’re both desperate to find a doctor who can reverse the twisted changes inflicted by the angels on Raffe and Penryn’s sister. As they set off in search of answers, a startling revelation about Raffe’s past unleashes dark forces that threaten them all.

When the angels release an apocalyptic nightmare onto humans, both sides are set on a path toward war. As unlikely alliances form and strategies shift, who will emerge victorious? Forced to pick sides in the fight for control of the earthly realm, Raffe and Penryn must choose: Their own kind, or each other?

It feels like I have been waiting for Susan Ee’s END OF DAYS for so damn long. If you haven’t heard of the Penryn & the End of Days books (the series debut is Angelfall) then you’ve clearly been living under a rock. It’s basically the only dystopian story I have any interest in. I admit that I was disappointed with the second book, World After – it just wasn’t as tightly plotted or perfectly written as Angelfall was. But I have faith that Susan Ee is gonna knock it out of the park with End of Days.

Like my pick last week, I expect End of Days to be on quite a few WoW posts. The cover was just released on February 5th via Entertainment Weekly, so it’s been getting some seriously intense buzz. Couple that with the promise of epic action and some major swoon, and End of Days is going to be a mega hit!

  1. This series has the most beautiful covers! I got 1 + 2 as e-books but I kind of want to have them all in print so I can look at them on my shelf… But perhaps not, since there are so many other great books I want to buy.
I can’t wait to read this conclusion – I hope it doesn’t disappoint!

    1. I know that feel. I want to go back and buy all of Tamora Pierce’s backlist, but I just can’t justify the price when there are so many new books to discover. That’s what ebay is for 😉

Fingers crossed it will be awesome! We will definitely need a twitter debrief after this one.

  2. How did I miss this cover reveal?? It is pretty awesome. I have to admit I haven’t started this series, but everyone I know loves it. One of these days maybe I’ll find time to read it:-D

  3. I can’t wait to read this one! Also that cover is perfect! And wow talk about an epic blurb! I didn’t have to wait as long as everyone else, because I just read these last year, but yeah two years between books is too long! I didn’t like World After as much as Angelfall either. I think it was mostly because Penryn and Raffe weren’t together, so now that that’s over it should be amazing again!

    1. I know, the covers for this series are gorgeous! Susan Ee really lucked out with the cover of Angelfall, most indies don’t have such perfect cover art. I completely agree, the Penryn/Raffe separation was brutal. But the reunion was almost epic enough to make up for it. 😉

  4. “It feels like I have been waiting for this book for SO. DAMN. LONG.”

And that is precisely why I’m not touching the rest of this series until it’s finished. I read and loved Angelfall too. And back when it was still indie, so I waited for World After even longer than most people did. BUT. Then I noticed there wasn’t a release date for this one. Then I checked back a few times and saw that the release date was constantly changing, and not in the oh-yay-sooner-then-I-thought kind of way. So yeah . . . I’ma wait. I learned my lesson with George R.R. Martin. *glares at Martin*

I has been mentioned that I can be unduly stubborn . . .

    1. How did you get to be so smart?! Or stubborn? Or is it both? I think it’s both. 😉

I read Angelfall then immediately gobbled down World After, so I’ve had some serious waiting to do…but admittedly not as much as for ASOIAF. I don’t think I’ll get back on that series until it’s completed…
