I feel like the term “monthly recap” is pretty self-explanatory, but just in case here’s my spiel! I’ll be recapping what I’ve read for the month and what reviews I’ve written, along with what I’m planning to read for next month. Reading & Blogging Updates:
Typing out all the books I read and reviewed this month, I realize that August was a super-charged reading month. I wasn’t any more or less busy than usual so the only explanation I can offer is this: grad school starts in a week and my reading time is going to shrink…a lot. So of course I need to read as many books as possible while I can, right? Right. I’ve also been pretty on top of my reviews lately – six is probably the most I’ve posted in one month since I first started blogging! Fine Print also had the highest traffic its ever had this month, so thank you to everyone who stopped by! Means a lot. 🙂
I visited a local used book shop this month that DEFINITELY didn’t help with my out of control TBR pile…but it had a fabulous selection and I’m weak. Juliet Marillier now has a very strong presence on my shelves, y’all. My UF kick continues as I desperately scramble to complete/catch up on as many series as possible. At the time of writing this post I’ve got half an audiobook left before I’m finally caught up with the Mercy Thompson series. Hooray!
Life Updates:
This month I went to see Hamlet performed live and it was amazing. How do these people talk for so long, so loudly? Stage actors are so impressive, aren’t they? I also had one of my best friends come to stay with me for a few days – which was especially exciting because while I was in undergrad we didn’t really get to see each other much. Fun times were had!
What I’m excited for in September:
- Grad school! I’m starting my Master’s of Library and Information Science…which is something I’ve wanted to do since I was like twelve. Long time coming people!
- Hip hop! One of the things I’ve decided to do as part of my whole “trying new things” kick is to sign up for a beginner hip hop class at the university. While I’m not a great dancer, I find it really fun and it’s a great workout.
- Cooler weather! Need I say more?
